3 easy ways to use Palm Kernel Oil for your hair

    Palm kernel oil is derived from the seed of the palm fruit but palm kernel oil is quite different from palm oil, while palm oil is extracted from the pulp of the palm fruit, palm kernel oil is extracted from kernel inside the palm fruit.

    Palm kernel has been used in most parts of Ghana and West African countries for centuries, for cooking and treatment and for beauty products. The famous African black soap was mostly made from palm kernel oil.
    Palm kernel oil is so rich in Anti-oxidants; and in vitamins A, E, and K making it a true germ oil for our skin and hair.

You can apply 6 tablespoons or more (depending on your length) of warmed up palm kernel oil to your lightly damp hair with massaging motions (massage for extra 2-3 minutes if you have dandruff or itchy scalp). Always apply from root to tips ensuring that every strand is well coated with the oil. Cover with shower cap or plastic bag and leave it for at least an hour. The effect will be even more apparent if you apply low heat with hairdryer or scarf and leave overnight. After the time has passed, just wash it and dry as usual.

    2. In a hair mask
    You can combine Palm Kernel oil with other ingredients like honey, fenugreek, avocado, banana, or a deep conditioner and apply to clean and detangled hair. Apply from root to tip focusing more on the body and ends of your hair. Cover with shower cap or plastic bag and apply low heat for 15 to 30 minutes and rinse out.
     
    3. As a daily moisturizer 
    Palm kernel oil can also be used as your day to day hair oil to seal in moisture into your hair. It can be used alone or combined with other oils.
